Taylor isn’t lost to football as he prepares, aged 34, to pull on the boots for Northampton in Western Australia this weekend in a region recently decimated by cyclone Seroja.

“People there are pretty resilient, down-to-earth sort of folk so no one has made too much a fuss but 75 per cent of houses are uninhabitable because of this,” Taylor said.
